The North Coast Concert Band held its first rehearsal in January, 1983.  The rehearsal was held at Fremont's Ross High School and was led by the late Frank Menichetti. The Band's constitution, accepted in February 1984, states the Band's purposes:

- To contribute positively to the musical environment of the area it serves

- To provide opportunity for individual musical expression and growth among its membership

- To provide opportunity for contact among musicians of advanced proficiency

- To reconfirm the Community Concert Band position in American music

When the North Coast Concert Band began rehearsing, it borrowed music from area high schools. The Band now has its own library that includes marches; medleys; holiday music; music for soloists, vocalists, and small ensembles with band accompaniment; and symphonic band works by composers from several eras.

Through the years the Band has become popular with audiences throughout northwest Ohio. There are three formal concerts scheduled, usually in December, March and May. In June, July, and August the Band performs at outdoor venues. The Band regularly appears in the summer concert series of several communities, including Sandusky, Tiffin, Willard, and Fremont, and at festivals at Marblehead and Kelleys Island.

The North Coast Concert Band averages about 70 musicians who come from several communities throughout northwest Ohio. Many professions and ages are represented, and there are "family units" - spouses, siblings, children, and grandchildren - among the members. Current director William Woycitzky, Elmore, is assisted by Will Kish, Norwalk. Past directors include, in addition to Mr. Menichetti, Nick Ezzone, Phil Lehenbauer, David Glasmire, and the late Verlin Eash and Elden Ehrman.

The Band's business affairs are managed by an elected Board of Directors: a president, secretary, treasurer, publicity coordinator, business manager, and members at large. Band expenses, such as site rental, printing costs, and music, are met primarily through donations by businesses and organizations in the communities the Bands serve. All Band personnel are volunteers.

Rehearsals are held at Bellevue Senior High School on Tuesday evenings from early October through early June.
